A New Housing Option for Elders in Quincy
If the city of Quincy approves our plan, we will build a new retirement community overlooking the Town River Bay. Eventide at Bay Pointe will consist of 120 congregate living apartments for the elderly and 42 private rooms for those who require skilled nursing.

What Will It Look Like?
Eventide at Bay Pointe will be designed to fit into the surrounding residential neighborhood. The buildings will be clustered small buildings for the nursing home and a three story over parking building with pitched roofs and articulated facades for independent living.

Site Plan
The new buildings will face Follett Street, with the four-story building and one and two-story buildings facing the ocean. The seaward portion of the site will remain much the way it is in order to preserve the Bay Pointe Marina and Restaurant.

The apartments will occupy the top three floors of the 4-story building and will overlook the ocean. The residents will enjoy covered parking directly below their new homes. They will be able to choose between one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus den, and two-bedroom apartments.
The skilled nursing facility will occupy a 1-story building near the southern end of the site.

Entrance
A 2-story building will link the two buildings and will contain kitchen facilities, dining, meeting, and activity areas. Meeting space in Eventide at Bay Pointe will be available for use by neighborhood groups and other non-profit organizations.
The grounds will be carefully landscaped and include walking paths and outdoor seating areas that can be enjoyed by our neighbors as well as our residents.

Why Congregate Housing?
Adding congregate housing will allow us to serve our current residents, as well as offer an attractive housing option for more active senior citizens.
Historically, the Rice Eventide Home helped elders who were largely independent but who needed help with meals, medications and/or personal care. More recently, our mission has evolved. We now find that the majority of people who now come to the Rice Eventide Home need round-the-clock skilled nursing care.

Eventide at Bay Pointe will integrate a nursing home with congregate housing on one campus giving seniors two attractive retirement options while spreading certain fixed overhead costs over a larger population base. Buy offering two types of senior housing the Rice Eventide Home will return to its core mission while offering a broad range of enhanced services to the community.
